Although I did not like the noise factor in my little protable recorder, I think it is good enough for one pod cast. I don't think I am going to use the rest of the the recordings though. It is too much work to clean it up. Enjoy the photos at FLickr.

I would also like to mention that I have begun ro upload photos and music to my profile over at Geeks!. The <a href ="http://lumpyscorner.com/Live.php" target ="blank" title=lumpy live">live stream is also up most of the time now. I am not always there but music almost always is and the script lets you know where to find the artist.

Techno Trouble in LumpCast Land

It seems that right after things appear to be going smoothly, there is at least a speed bump. May be it is because the ride is so smooth that you just notice the minor glitches more. Nonetheless, Lumpster is rather miffed at his technology. I am really looking forward to doing things more consistently. I still plan to Podcast live tomorrow night at 8PM EST. That is Wednesday, June 25th at 8 PM EST.

Regrettably, it seems likely we will have a few glitches to overcome. I have no clue why but my XP machine has been acting weird ever since I went to SP3. I can find nothing wrong with it but I do see it acting wrong. The first bump was that my Microsoft live camera freezes in ustream. Despite frozen video the audio would still stream. Since my live show is mostly music, that is not too bad.

Then, just as inexplicably, the video stopped freezing and all I can get for ustream audio is a steady hiss. I don't care what audio source I use, all I get is hiss. I can, however, still do the show. I just have to fall back to an archaic Winblows ME box. Anyhow, all I hope to see you all at 8 PM EST tomorrow. Just be forewarned that there may be a few glitches with the podcast when I take calls and such.

I Think More is Better

Seems like thing are moving forward rather well with this project. It helps that I am actually producing content. I would like to thank those of you who tuned into the last few live streaming cast over at Live Page. I was really flattered and amazed that I could gain a half dozen listeners with nothing more than a few mentions in IRC.

I am also flattered by the positive feedback on the project. I promise you I will pursue it more. Right now here is what I plan to do:

This is mostly done but clean up the code and look of this site. Your feedback is welcome. There are a few more things I would like to do, especially since I am getting used to the Movable Type 4.???

It seems that many are enjoying my live streams. They are fun to do but a good bit of work to mix down. I think what I am going to do is try to do 2-4 live shows per week. I will vary the times so that those of you half way about the globe can participate. Keep you browser tuned here for a schedule coming the end of this week. Although I will still do show notes, I am not going to produce a separate podcast for the live show. I will work on getting a better quality video for you but Ustream is gonna be it for now.

I also want to get back to doing a studio produced audio podcast. I am going to shoot for one hour in length and, tentatively, one show every week.

Thanks for listening and reading all. Comments are welcome.

Finally Back Behind the Mic

Wow! has it really been since Christmas? Been too long! Sorry about that but remember "The Lumpcast is a podcast of undetermined length, publishing frequency or topic". Since I am receiving almost all positive feedback, I guess I should make an effort to be more consistent.

I I think I have finally managed to dial everything in so that I can actually do a live stream and record it at the same time. The audio may still be a bit rough but I think that can be tweaked for the next one. I am also able to take on air calls which is kewl.

I don't think my mic is very good and I need to rework how my voice gets into the recorded end of it. Justplaindave on the other end seemed to have no issues understanding me nor I him. The recorded end of it is not so pretty though. There pops and hisses that I did not notice during the live portion of it. If you continue reading you will be taken to the show notes and video of the attempt.

Welcome to my latest resurrection of an old endeavor. I have shaken off the moth balls and decided to try it again. About three years ago, I did my first audioblog. I ended up abandoning to do radiostatic. Regrettably, it seems that trying to co-ordinate two busy schedules has made it impossible for exios and I to actually make it work. It is nobody's fault or blame but the reality is that we spend more time attempting to schedule it and talking about doing it than actually doing it. The obstacles of distance, health issues and technological problems have resulted in two critical problems. The first is but a semantic excuse for the second. We failed miserably at consistently posting shows. Every time we would gain an audience, we would have and issue and not do the show consistently, which is a key factor for a sucessful podcast.

If you gain listeners, they expect you to fulfill their desires for being there the next time. That is the worse thing we did. We let our listeners down. I am very sorry for that. It will not happen again. If it does, it is totally and entirely my fault.

Lumpy's First Audio Blog

This was originally published on 30 April, 2005. I thought it best if I just moved it here.

I have finally done it. I have made the leap to audio blogging. There is not much to write about here so tune in. One should also not that the notes below will make little sense unless you listen in.

It is far from perfect and far from what I wish to get to but it is a start.

HousyGroove - the sound in the back ground for my introduction. You can find out a bit more about it here

Usrbingeek - the on responsible for this addiction. Actually, the blame should be shared by both Steve (AKA Usrbingeek) fault and Chris Prillo (of lockergnome fame). Chris Prillo because of his show and Steve because of his Dummies Guide
In his artcle, Steve suggested using:
