My Boring Life

I seldom talk about some of the more important things in my life in this blog. This is due to a number of factors. The main reason being that this mostly a geek realm and I usually go off about the Internet, spam, the RIAA or other such things. I never really had many ambitions of writing a personal weblog. I started one with a separate URL at the request of a friend, felt it was trafficked very little and removed it.

After I removed it, I received more than one inquiry as to why and more than one request to continue it. Such is.

Another reason I tend not to go too deeply into my personal life is because it consists mostly of four significant things. I work, belong to a Fraternity, attend a church and have a wonderful girlfriend.

As far as work goes, I work in research. I monitor the experiments, which, more or less, means I record data. Most of what I deal with is proprietary. In other words, most details of what I am working on I can't really talk about. I suppose I could blank out the key words with "*****'s" like:

I work in an "as needed" capacity for the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. I am rather proud to be a small cog in the machine that is, in many areas, the worlds best hospital. I monitor research. I look over stuff that is groundbreaking and, more or less, history in the making. I work mostly third shifts and really love my job. I like to work every hour I possibly can.

Today I am monitoring an in vitro experiment. We have and artificial ******** implanted in a calf. The artificial ************* is hooked up to a **********. **************** and an ************ in order to record all the relevant data. I must also collect data at specified periods. The experiment is currently on day *** of a ** day study. At the moment we are paying close attention to the ********. We are somewhat concerned about *******.

hmm...

Maybe it is just me but I don't see that as being a very interesting blog. I do however have several jobs and will comment on them from time to time. For example, at present I am tearing apart a house in order to get it ready to sell. I am making sure that all of the plumbing and electrical are up to code. I am also making sure that the walls are all looking right.

Next I mentioned the fact that I belonged to a Fraternity, I am a long time member of The Delta Epsilon Chapter of the Tau Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity. for those of you who do not know much about fraternities, I do write about TeKE from time to time. It is not that easy to do for several reasons.

The one I get asked to write about most often is our "secrets". I give to you the same answer I do all. If you are a male and man enough, think about joining and experience the Fraternity other wise bugger off. The Fraternity is a life long experience, the secrets you ask about interwoven in, defined by and inseparable from the experience. Any other answer than that is a lie. Furthermore, Tau Kappa Epsilon is not a big "secret society".

TKE is a fraternity for college men. We are not defined by wealth, social status, college, college major, race or religion. Membership is open to any college male with a Chapter on their respective campus. If you truly wish to find out you can find a Chapter near you by using our National's locator.

I am often asked about our "wild and crazy parties". I am seldom there. Keep in mind that I joined this Fraternity over 20 years ago and that I am a returning college student. Most of the members are about half my age. Also keep in mind, that I work third shift, which means I am away during most of the wildness.

I do make an occasional cameo at the parties, I do help them with their website, and I help them work on their century old mansion. Before my current job, I was a good bit more involved. I am not alone in this are however, other older members often help with the house. One of the ways American society has changed is that our youth are usually not as handy as generations past. The younger men do help out and still take care of most of the daily operations as they have at our Chapter for over 50 years.

I will, however, confess to being around often enough to enjoy a beer or two and I know well enough that college aged men should not mix beer, hair clippers, Elmer's glue and creativity.

Enough said?

Thought so...

Now my wonderful girlfriend, on her, "I" could talk about forever. I cannot actually do so however. My girlfriend is Japanese. The Japanese are very private. I am permitted to discuss her in my life but only can only refer to her as Grinny and never post photos.

I will, out of respect to her, keep it pretty much just that way. I will mention her only by alias.

So far the only thing I have left out is my church. That, I assure you, will be coming soon. God has been good to me and I must share that. God is worthy of much and Jesus shall certainly get a blog entry in his own right... Shored by no one.

So there you have it.

I have just told you a whole bunch about my life and, at the same time, a whole lotta nothing. Be sure and stay tuned for more.
