Why I haven't Bloged Lately

Forget about grammar and spellin' here this is just for information

Saturday

Well, things are off to a poor start. I am now at the school trying to bang out all the schedule changes for this upcoming semester. Thought it might help if I got out of the house for a bit and sought out some air-conditioning.. Not the case.

I thought some music would help so headphones were given to me by the lab monitor. Of course you have to plug them into the back of the desktop PC, which attached to the desk. This leaves you no choice but to do it by touch and then the cord is so short I can barely move. But none the less, here I am my face pressed against the monitor like a bug smashed against a windshield... complete with streaming audio that skips like every two seconds.

Actually there is more reason to being here than just AC. I need to be accessible. I have a lot of people just hired and quite a few quitting... Such is and so be it.

In the hour that I have been here I have already had five phone calls, two radio calls and three walk ins. So that is like one interruption every six minutes. Should I feel confused? I hope so cause I am...

I just changed the schedule but wait I must change it again... I am really glad that I found a working stream of classical music... Otherwise a certain Motorola VHF police radio might have become one with a certain HP monitor... :)

Well it is now two hours later and I have the schedule done through to Thursday. The interruptions have started to slow down and it is starting to look a bit better.

It is finally coming together. Five hours... Finally...

Sunday

Well Saturday then turned into Sunday, and I am still at it. Things tend to change every two minutes during the first few weeks of class. Such is and so be it. As I type this paragraph of text it is Wednesday already. At this point in time I still have gapping holes in the campus's escort schedule and about 30% of those I hired have either not taken the job or left for better paying jobs. Last night my boss and I discussed our second round of hiring. Fortunately, thanks to a new program at school I am able to function much better.

The school has initiated a "laptop loaner" program. I give them my ID and they give me a laptop for 4 hours. The price is great too, as long as I pay my tuition, free. I should also mention that it includes wireless internet. This is going to be a major asset this semester. I am currently the programs most frequent borrower... They even gave me a T-shirt. hehe... Surprised?

This will also allow me to do little tid bit attacks on my blogs between classes and studying. Not to mention the fact that I have ditched paper notes for most of my classes. Although the keyboard is a bit of an adjustment for this desktop user, I am rapidly making the adjustment and loving it. Especially since I type far faster than I write and I can decipher it and edit it latter.

Monday

Now it is early the next day and I am exhausted. More changes needed to be made. Unfortunately I still do not have enough staff. It is time for the second round of hiring.

To add to it I have to go to class now as well. Imagine that. hehe

Tuesday

Add more stress, shake to agitate and repeat Monday. Also make plans to interview more new hires and I must put a reminder in my palm pilot to now pack aspirin in my book bag.

Wednesday

See Tuesday, add interviews, take aspirin and multiply by two.

Thursday

Fill out hiring paper work, fall behind in class work, take more aspirin and multiply by three.

Friday

Meet with everybody, verify schedules, tell dozens we done hiring and repeat.

Saturday

Finally, it is coming together! We are staffed, every hour is filled and all is looking good, for now...

And I can finally find fifteen spare minutes to do this blog. :)
